director of photography + camera operator
This was the first production I was part of as a student and allowed for full immersion into what was required for a shoot like this. Although it was a micro-short film with £0 budget, a lot of work and planning during pre-production had to be sussed out before heading to set
I was appointed Director of Photography along with the role of camera operator (as we had a small crew).
I am familiar with operating cameras, so having the role of DP allowed for a first time glimpse at the challenges to come such as the shot planning, working with the director on how to tell the story in the most creative way and finally making sure continuity and editing were thought of to allow a smooth transition into post-production.
